Humans - Earth's Stewards

Humans - Earth's Stewards
Humans - Earth's Stewards

As humans, we have the duty of stewardship for all things on Earth.

As humans, we have the duty of stewardship for all things on Earth. The writing is on the wall humans will either make or break this planet, and we have a choice. It has become increasingly clear that humans are, and have been, making significant impacts on the health and well-being of all aspects on this planet both organic and inorganic. It is also very clear that, with massive population growth, humans are going to make a larger and more sustaining impact. In order to protect our future, we must learn from our past and enact policies in the present that will manage and minimize negative human impacts. We must become the stewards that the Earth needs.
Cause and effect, the laws of physics, for every action there is a reaction. No single creature in the known history of Earth has had a greater impact on this planet than the human. In reality, the Earth is a violent, changing, living world with volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and other natural disasters. We are ruled by our elements; wind, water, air and earth. Through scientific study, we have discovered the evolution of Earth and have determined that this evolution is occurring now and will continue for the duration of Earth's existence. All this we know, yet there are still those who erroneously believe we are above it all, these are the fools among us.
Human civilization, once believed to be a fragile creation in the face of Mother Nature, has become the single greatest threat (besides God) to the stability of the world. Our negative impacts on the natural world - water, air and soil pollution; habitat destruction; fossil fuel and natural resource procurement; and the intentional or unintentional genocide of species are taking their toll quicker and with more dire consequences than ever before. It has become quite obvious to the intelligent person that proper management policies are required to minimize the negative impacts of human civilization. We must go forward, not backward, when implementing such policies. The human machine is very strong, we can and will adapt to stringent policies.
As a representative of not only the United States, but of the entire world, I strongly urge you to do the right thing promote environmental stewardship on all sides. Do not succumb to greedy lobbyists, misinformation and backroom pressures. As an intelligent human being, I hope you know right from wrong, and the mistreatment of our planet, our resources, and our flora and fauna is wrong regardless of political interests. We need true leaders that will stand up and act on these issues instead of giving in when the going gets tough. The writing is on the wall; we have a choice, do the right thing and sleep well knowing that you did.
