Our Wildlife

My story consists mainly of my opinions on wildlife, which you can choose to ignore or not. That is up to you. I am only 17 years old, which may cause you to take me less seriously, but at least I understand the value of our wildlife.

I find it funny that some people believe they have any sort of claim over the land we live on. Yes, I'm aware that I sound like a hippie of some sort, but believe me, I'm not. I am young. I'm only 17 years old. That might make me idealistic or naive, but don't you think we should have a little idealism in our government? These creatures are protected for a REASON. They're a part of our country, a part of out world, in fact, and they should be treated as well as we want ourselves to be treated. Yes, they are animals. Maybe they're not as intelligent as we are. But that would be like saying that a slower child is not as valuable as a smart child, in a way.
Perhaps that's a bad comparison to make, considering a slow child is still human, but it's the best I can do to make you understand just how important our endangered species are. How can you simply write them off, and let them continue down the path to extinction?
The animals of our country are a part of what make it the beautiful place it is today. Can you imagine a barren landscape, void of all animal life? Still as death? I can, and that's why i'm writing this to you now. I just hope you can understand my feelings on this, and please take my words into consideration. Thank you.
