Advocates Storm The Hill
Wildlife advocates from across the country came to Washington, DC last month to meet face-to-face with their elected officials. Their mission: to speak out for wildlife. It was all part of Defenders' second annual Citizen Advocacy Training & Lobby Day.
Business owners, farmers, writers, a chef, scientists -- even a 10 year old girl -- all urged members of Congress to take action to address the impacts of global warming on wildlife, conserve wildlife on our public lands and end aerial hunting of wolves in Alaska.

Condors, UnleadedThis month, California’s historic regulation requiring the use of non-lead ammunition in condor country went into effect -- thanks in large part to Defenders supporters like you. More than 276 iconic condors have suffered from lead poisoning in the past eight years, and just weeks ago, seven more were found to have high levels of the toxin. The new regulation will help prevent future deaths and ensure a brighter future for these rare and iconic birds. >>Read More Jaguars, Wolverines Lack ProtectionThe Bush Administration continues to pass the buck on protecting endangered wildlife in the U.S., claiming that it has no obligation to protect imperiled animals if larger populations live in Canada or Mexico. Defenders has gone to court to ensure that wolverines, jaguars and other wildlife continue to have a fighting chance in the U.S.

Liquid Harvest In hot summer months, harvested rain water may be just what your garden is thirsting for. Just one inch of rain on a 1,000 square foot roof can produce 600 gallons of water! And strategically placed rain barrels can collect this run-off, helping keep your plants watered, conserving water and helping keep rivers and streams clean.
